Not “in loco parentis;” just plain loco

It’s time for the annual ritual known as university orientation for new students.  But things have changed.

Should the school separate parents from their children and tell each group different, even conflicting, messages?  Should students be forced to wear ID tags announcing their preferred gender pronouns?
